Investigate Human Environment Interactions Lesson & Activities - Print & Digital
This Human Environment Interactions lesson examines how geography influences people and how people, in turn, impact their environment. The activities are engaging for students, and the guided 5-E format is easy for you to use! Everything you need is included!
First, introduce key concepts and vocabulary; fill-in notes accompany the lesson. A “Move It” warm-up explores the differences between adaptations and modifications to the environment. Next, challenge students to identify real-world examples of human-environment interactions in photographs with two activities, “I Spy…” and “Stickman’s Travels”. Finally, assess learning with a “GSI: Geography Scene Investigation” activity. Students examine a region's geographic features and analyze how humans might adapt to or modify the environment to best suit their needs.
