5 Themes of Geography Classify Lesson & WalkAround Activities - Google Digital Resources
This lesson on the 5 Themes of Geography encourages your class to identify, classify, and explain real-world examples. The activities are engaging for students, and the guided 5-E format is easy for you to use!
Begin with a fun “Sort It” warm-up activity that explores geography, and then introduce each of the Five Themes: Location, Place, Region, Movement, and Human-Environment Interactions. Accompanying fill-in notes are provided with the lesson.
Next, challenge your class to apply these concepts with a “Classify” practice activity. A “GSI: Geography Scene Investigation” task asks students to classify 16 colorful images by theme and justify their responses. Additionally, there is a printable “Walk-Around” poster version of this activity.
Finally, assess learning with an exit ticket quiz. Both printed and interactive digital versions of the materials are included, making this lesson suitable for traditional in-class learning or digital 1:1 classrooms. Everything you need is provided!
