Desertification Lesson & Climate Change Activities - Google Digital Resources
This Desertification Lesson explores the effects of water scarcity on both humans and the environment. The climate change activities are engaging for students, and the guided 5-E format is easy to implement! Start with a fun "Fact or Fiction" warm-up activity about the Sahara Desert, then introduce key vocabulary words. Fill-in notes are provided to accompany the lesson. Challenge students to "Go Viral" by creating a proposal for a fictional TikTok video that addresses desertification. Assess students' learning with a reading comprehension activity where they use evidence from a passage to complete a cause/effect/solutions chart related to desertification. Both printable and interactive digital versions of the materials are included. This lesson is designed for traditional in-class learning as well as digital 1:1 classrooms.
