This lesson explores the geography of North Africa & Southwest Asia, aka the Middle East. The activities are engaging for students & the guided, 5-E format is easy for you to use! First, challenge your class to solve the Sphinx’s riddle, then test their prior knowledge of the region with a “Name It” map activity. Next, students compete in an “Amazing Race” while exploring the political and physical geography of the Middle East. Discuss key locations, landforms, and bodies of water.
