The 5 Themes of Geography United States Lesson & Map Activities - Google Digital Resources
This lesson on the 5 Themes of Geography focuses on the physical geography of the United States. The map activities are engaging for students, and the guided 5-E format is easy for teachers to implement! Begin by introducing key vocabulary and then encourage students to track down “Fugitive Stickman” in a fun mental mapping warm-up activity. Accompanying fill-in notes will enhance the lesson.
Next, students will examine different types of maps of the U.S. through an "Investigate" activity that promotes exploration of U.S. geography. After that, take map labeling to the next level! Students will create a detailed map of the United States using only absolute and relative location clues. Additionally, digital and interactive map practice activities are included.
Finally, assess understanding and learning with an exit ticket quiz. Both printed and interactive digital versions of the materials are provided. This resource is suitable for traditional in-class learning as well as digital 1:1 classrooms. Everything you need is included!
