Intro PEGS Factors Lesson & Activities - Political Econ Geo Social - MS Digital Resources
This engaging lesson introduces the PEGS factors: Political, Economic, Geographic, and Social. The activities are designed to be fun for students, and the guided 5-E format makes it easy for teachers to implement. Social Studies curricula can change significantly from year to year, but the PEGS factors serve as common themes that unite all Social Studies classes. These ideas are often referred to as PESTLE, STEEP, or PEST. Building a strong foundation with these concepts ensures vertical alignment across grade levels. Use PEGS resources throughout the year to enrich your curriculum!
Start with a warm-up “Memory Game,” then challenge your class to identify and classify items in a cooperative “Sort It” activity. Next, students create “Picto-Words” for each PEGS factor, which they typically enjoy. A “Find the PEGS” video activity encourages them to identify examples and can be adapted to most Social Studies videos, allowing you to use it multiple times throughout the year. Finally, assess their learning with an exit ticket quiz. Your purchase includes editable, printable, and interactive digital versions of the materials, making them suitable for traditional in-class learning and digital 1:1 classroom environments. Everything you need is included!
