Investigate OPEC Walk-Around Activity - Global Oil Supply DBQ - Print & Digital
This activity challenges students to investigate graphs, charts, and maps related to OPEC and its influence on the global oil supply and pricing. A printable “walk-around” poster version is also included for in-class instruction. This DBQ (Document-Based Question) activity is engaging for students, and the guided format is easy for you to use! Everything you need is included!
Your class imagines that the President needs assistance in deciding how to address the current price of oil. Should the U.S. increase fracking operations to compete in the "Gas Nations" war against OPEC? Students examine data files, identify the pros and cons, and evaluate the evidence. After their analysis, they will write a final report recommending the best strategy for the nation. Students must decide whether it is more beneficial to drill our shale fields or to maintain the current relationship with OPEC. A fill-in rubric makes grading easy!
