The Ivory Wars in Africa Lesson and Conservation Activities - Print & Digital
This lesson examines illegal poaching, its impact on the world, and ways to promote conservation efforts in Africa. The activities are engaging for students, and the guided 6-E format is easy for you to use! Everything you need is included!
Start with a fun “4 Pics, 1 Word” warm-up, followed by an exploration of “10 Facts About African Elephants.” Fill-in notes accompany the lesson. Students investigate poaching and conservation efforts with a video response activity. Next, they complete a close reading activity that examines “The Ivory War”. Finally, assess their learning with an exit ticket quiz. To extend the lesson, a fun project challenges students to create their own pieces of propaganda to raise awareness about an issue impacting our world.
