    **What is Culture?**

    This fun lesson challenges your class to explore the meaning of culture and explore cultural traits from around the world. The activities are engaging for students, and the guided 5-E format is easy for you to use! Everything you need is included!

     

    Start with a “What in the World?” warm-up featuring Manu Martian, an alien who has crash-landed and is utterly confused by life on Earth. Examine culture and its traits through his observations, then introduce key vocabulary and concepts. Fill-in notes accompany the lesson. Next, students take a “Culture Survey” to reflect on their own cultural identity. Finally, check for understanding with a creative activity in which they design “Martian” cultural landscapes.
